Design and Experimental Testing of an Ankle Rehabilitation Robot

The ankle joint (AJ) is a crucial in daily life, responsible for providing stability, mobility, and support to the lower limbs during routine activities such as walking, jumping, running. Ankle injuries can occur due sudden twists or turns, leading ligament sprains, strains, fractures, dislocations that cause pain, swelling, limited mobility. When AJ trauma occurs, instability happens, causing mobility limitations even loss of rehabilitation therapy necessary. critical those recovering from regain strength, function. Common methods include rest, ice, compression, elevation (RICE), physical therapy, braces, exercises strengthen surrounding muscles. Traditional therapies are require constant presence therapist, but technological advancements offer new ways fully recover an injury. In recent decades there has been upswing research on robotics, specifically regarding rehabilitation. Robotic platforms (RbPs) several advantages assistance, including customized training programs, real-time feedback, improved performance monitoring, increased patient engagement. These use advanced technologies sensors, actuators, virtual reality help patients quicker more efficiently. Furthermore, RbPs provide safe controlled environment who need rebuild their strength They enable focus specific areas weakness targeted faster recovery reduced risk re-injury. Unfortunately, high costs make it difficult implement these systems recuperative institutions, low-cost apparent. While different currently being used, none them satisfy needs they lack technical problems. This paper addresses conception, development, implementation (RPs) adaptable patients’ by presenting design solutions (DSs) RPs, mathematical modeling, simulations selected platform (RP) under development. addition, some results practical tests first prototype this RP presented.
